Deutsches Knopfmuseum Bärnau

A MULTIPURPOSE EVERYDAY OBJECT

During the 1950s and 60s most inhabitants of Bärnau lived on what was earned in the local button industry. Whether through work at home or in huge factories, the button was everywhere. The German Button Museum keeps this tradition alive and tells of times when a total of 32 companies were up and running in Bärnau.

From the smallest to the largest button, as piece of jewellery or inconspicuous trouser button … this is where the manifoldness of a button finally becomes visible.
