Museum Burg Falkenberg

More than 1,000 years of history

The Falkenberg Castle stands for an eventful millennium of history. For many centuries, the fortification remained un-captured. Since the middle of the 17th century, however, the castle gradually started to decay to a ruin. During the 1930s the diplomat Friedrich Werner Graf von der Schulenburg brought the castle back to life. He wanted to grow old here. But it was not supposed to be. As co-conspirator to the plot on the 20th of July in 1944, he was murdered by the Nazis.
